My name is Mac McGuire and I am putting this fundraiser together for my grandma who has recently been evicted from her home of forty years due to a notice from the Caddo Parish Health Dept that the water source to her trailer park has become contaminated and it is no longer safe for the residents to stay there. My grandmother is an elderly widow on a fixed income without the means to move herself. Her and my grandfather bought the trailer she lives in now brand new in 1980. He was a war vet having fought in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War were he was a POW. He died in 2008 and she’s been by herself in this home ever since.
Since the eviction notice we have tried to come together as a family to help her. Her wish is to be able to keep the only home she’s ever known. We have found a place that will accept her aged mobile home and a moving company that will move it. However moving the trailer is very expensive. The family (which is small) is trying to come together to get her taken care of but expenses keep coming up and it’s becoming overwhelming. Expenses include- moving the trailer, new park fees, utilities disconnected and hooked back up at the new location, lodging for her while the move is taking place, a new refrigerator that went out literally yesterday, etc.. being able to meet the goal will help significantly with the expenses that seem to be piling up on a rather small family. We are trying to meet this goal in a pretty quick time frame due to the limited time we have to get her moved within the notice.
Thank you in advance for your consideration in helping me with making sure I can get her and the only home she’s known for the past forty years into another place were she can hopefully spend the rest of her days safely and worry free.
