Hi everyone! So over the past week I have been here in Lake View, AR visiting my sweet grandma Teri; out here in the middle of nowhere just the way she likes it. My grandmother has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer... Hearing this has been really difficult not only on me but my whole family. She has always been a huge part of my life and the closest thing to a second mother for me. I tell her anything and everything and she has always truly understood me. My Dad was her only child and her family is my grandmas pride and joy. At just 62 years, I always pictured my grandmother in every special moment of my life and hate to think of cancer taking her away from me...
Coming here to see her for the first time since being diagnosed has been difficult and I did not know what to expect. The moment I saw her I wanted to cry (but didn’t want her to see me cry)…as I have never seen her this way. I didn’t realize how quickly the cancer would effect everything. She can barely eat, excessive amount of weight loss, and her pain sometimes unbearable. It’s a bit hard for me to be this vulnerable publicly but I’ve realized this isn’t about me, this is about her.
Upon diagnosis, my grandmother instantly went to research what she could do to beat this. Wanting to stay away from chemotherapy, she discovered a treatment called Rigvir Virotherapy. This virus has actually been used since 1973 and is the only treatment used in Latvia for cancer patients. The virus attacks the cancer stem cells directly. This would be the first of many treatments if we can get the necessary funding. After doing countless hours of research, we believe she can beat this! We believe she has more time here on Earth with us and I believe it too!
In order for us to accomplish this for her, I ask all friends and family for your support in this. We are hoping to raise as much as we can for her and even the smallest bit will make a difference. And if you feel as if you cannot donate, please keep my dear grandmother in your prayers for me. ♡ I have Faith in this research and I have Faith that this can be done.
