This is my grandma and she is in her early 90. On the day of the fire, she was at Feather River Hospital and was getting ready for a gallstone removal. My dad and my grandma drove through flames from the hospital to Magalia. My grandma lost everything that she has ever worked hard for. Her name is Dot Marler, she survived the Great Depression, she was a teacher in the early 40s, and eventually married my now deceased Grandpa Bill who was WWII B17-G Pilot (also known as The Flying Fortress). She continued teaching up until the late 90’s working as a substitute teacher for the Paradise/Magalia area.
Dot has a scheduled gallstone procedure and laser cataract surgery to be done in a few weeks. After the two procedures she will start her healing process in her hotel room. Dot is staying in a hotel in Chico until the end of this month and she needs housing afterwards. Her home that was built by her late husband and her son’s own hands was destroyed in the camp fire along with her car. She will not be able to rebuild her home and now must instead move into a retirement home.
My Grandma Dot, she is the type of wrinkles on her face that smile from her many years of cheer, love and positivity. She is a woman of kindness and faith. She wants to stay close to family in the Paradise and Chico area but may be forced to live far away due to the impacted nature of nearly every local retirement home in the area. What she hopes for are: a home or retirement community in Butte County, transportation, clothing, food, a grand piano so she can play hymns, and fellowship with church members.
My Grandma loves the Lord, please share this post and any amount of donation would be appreciated. She is the ROCK of our family. We want to show her the love she has shown us all our lives.
Thank you!

This is what remains of her house and car.
