Our Grandma needs a grave marker.
However it happened; the purchasing of a grave marker fell through the cracks. It is now time to come together and honor our grandmother.
Blanche Leona Haslett White was quite a woman. She loved traveling, history, education, and was devoutly Catholic, but most of all, she loved her family. She had ten children; unfortunately, she lost one baby shortly after birth. The remaining gave her twenty-one grandchildren and those gave her forty great-grandchildren. Another generation is now upon us with seven great great-grandchildren. She loved us all and tried to impart her love of education, history, travel, and God to each of us. Grandma outlived four of her children and once told me that no parent should ever outlive a child. This was one of her great sorrows.
Through the inspiration of our cousin, Jason White, we have developed a custom design for her grave marker representing Grandma’s love and her children.
We have chosen the Tree of Life to represent her love for us.
Around that tree, the flying birds represent those of her children and a grandchild who went before her. The birds perched on the tree are those who were still living at the time of her death. We have since lost two more. The medium-sized birds on the ground represent her grandchildren. The little birds are her great-grandchildren and the tulips in the background are her great great-grandchildren. We wish to thank Jason for such a lovely concept.
Grandma’s grave rests between our grandfather’s and their youngest son Joe’s. Both of them have custom grave markers and we decided that Grandma needed to have something comparable.
Given that we have chosen a custom design, the cost of the grave marker will be more expensive than the average stone. Just as many hands make light work, many contributions will make this happen. One person cannot do it all alone. Let us all come together, honor Grandma and finally give her the grave marker she deserves.
Please consider giving towards this fund for the purchase of a beautiful grave marker for our grandmother. Thank you
*Please note that the color picture of Grandma will not be part of the finished marker. The design to the right of the photo is our concept. The actual stone will be in light grey granite with black lettering and design and may be slightly re-worked by the stone masons (possibly a larger tree design) while keeping our original concept.
