My mom Kerry Labrayere has fallen on times when she needs some help! She is uninsured due to needing to retire early because of tinnitus and not being old enough for Medicare/not having insurance figured out yet when this emergency came up.

Last December, she suddenly started having a lot of pain and instantly went from being an active bike-riding, walking, swimming grandma to being pretty much bedbound. She has been on crutches/in the wheelchair since. Multiple doctors have refused to operate/investigate, telling her she had too much scar tissue from her previous issues and they would do nothing further. 2 weeks ago, her knee blew up in size and it was found she has a raging infection inside and needs pretty emergent surgery (scheduled for tomorrow). They were just told the upfront cost for the hospital alone will be around $80,000, and that they need that before surgery. This doesn't include anesthesia, medicine, infectious disease doctor, and this is just an estimation. Just for the surgery to clean the infection out/put a medicated concrete block in her leg for the next 8+ weeks. This doesn’t include the cost of daily medicine during that time or the second procedure after that time.

Backstory:

When she was 14, she was hit by a car and broke her leg. There have been issues ever since. Multiple complete knee surgeries, partial knee surgeries, and infections—the list goes on!

Please help this grandma get moving again! It’s been a hard year of being in pain and constantly being in bed, and this infection needs taken care of!
