Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Our friend and local legend Brian May needs our help. As a Type 1 Diabetic, he is experiencing much loss. With the angelic support of Sue Manuel (Yes! Melissa’s Mother!!) he has been doing his best the past four years to navigate vision issues, nonstop appointments and treatment and treat infection that has at times spread through his body due to his condition.
Currently, he has experienced two surgeries to amputate his lower left leg which is an absolute nightmare and life game-changer. Sue (who is also a Spectrum Health RN) has been paying out of pocket for prescription upgrades and much more to support his growing and vast medical needs. Thankfully, both surgeries went well on 2/14 and 2/16. The road to come could feel extremely grim to someone experiencing the loss of a limb, especially to a brilliant musician and creative like Brian.
Those of us who know Brian realize that he is not someone to be held back from any challenge life presents to him. The purpose of this go fund me is to support following his major life changes. He will be fit with a prosthetic lower leg at Mary Free Bed within a few days and re-acclimated to his new lifestyle. He needs support with what this will look like. Brian needs help with new household items to accommodate these needs, and Sue should be supported with the out of pocket expenses she has so graciously given.
