Meet Chloe, a sweet 2-year-old Husky mix who had a rough start in Texas before making her way to Grammy Rose Dog Rescue & Sanctuary in Maine for a second chance at a happier life. Little did we know just how much this special girl had already overcome!

After noticing something unusual about Chloe's gait, our team sought veterinary care to find out what was going on. X-rays revealed something unexpected: Chloe was born without the heads of either femur, meaning neither of her back legs sits properly within a hip joint. Instead, her hind legs are supported by surrounding muscles and ligaments.

Despite her condition, Chloe is a happy, loving girl who enjoys making friends and exploring the world around her. But everyday activities like climbing stairs, jumping, and playing freely are just not an option for this sweet pup. While she isn't currently experiencing significant pain, her condition threatens her long-term mobility and quality of life.

At just 2 years old, Chloe deserves the chance at a long, happy, comfortable life!

After consulting with veterinary professionals, Chloe has been approved for two major orthopedic surgeries (Femoral Head Ostectomies, or FHO) to improve her comfort and mobility. Each hip will require a separate procedure, followed by months of healing and recovery.

The estimated cost of Chloe's surgeries is $11,000, not including the veterinary examinations, X-rays, and care she's already received.
