Time is shorter than we originally posted. Rachel has provided that the payment will need to sent by Friday November 11th to meet the before November 14th deadline; although considering that Veterans Day is this Friday and most Banks are likely closed, the realistic deadline is next THURSDAY. Thank you all for your very generous contributions and all efforts in getting the word out, it is clearly making a big difference, $2,500.00 the first day, amazing!! We just may make it happen!!!
Some may already have heard, but for those who have not, unfortunately Grammy Rachel is experiencing a HUGE struggle regarding her home mortgage. She currently has an ultimatum from the mortgage company to come up with $4,458.00 before November 14th or she will lose her house. No kidding. November 14th is the contractual point of no return with the mortgage company. This is short notice, there is not much time to help her, which is why we need to inform as many people as possible on how to help as quickly as possible. Please forward this Go Fund Me page to as many people as possible.
The statement above will trigger questions with most people, which is quite understandable. We do not know all the details, but what we do know is Grammy Rachel has a "Reverse Mortgage" that was paying her money monthly, although she reached her limit about a year ago and they stopped paying her. The money stopped but her contractual obligation to continue paying for the real estate taxes and insurances did not. Because the payment of these obligations has not been possible, Rachel is at a point of no return with the mortgage company (payment before November 14th) and they are not messing around. Even if she comes up with the money after the deadline, she will still lose her home. Again, time is critical.
I think it is important to mention that Rachel knows we are putting the word out, but she did not ask us to; we asked her if she would mind if we did and she said it's okay. There really is no other choice since time is so short.
No one person or family can easily part with $4,458.00, therefore this GoFundMe has been created in hopes of making a group effort possible and making it easy to contribute. If we can at least help her past this hurdle, the rest can be figured out afterwards. We are asking for a contribution, anything you can do is greatly needed/appreciated. If you can reach out to other family members, or even friends that may want to help, that is also quite welcome. People can also contact us for a direct donation.
Getting the word out is going to be the key to making this possible. So even if you cannot donate, if you can do your best to communicate this issue to as many interested people as possible and how to donate, it will help make the difference. Also if you have any other ideas on how to raise the money, please let us know.
