Graham Fondo
Donation protected
In June 2021, our son Graham was born 14-weeks early at 1 lbs. 8 oz.
He spent his first 100-days of life in the SBU (Small Baby Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), and NIC (Neonatal Intermediate Care) of OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.
Throughout his hospital stay, I commuted to him each evening following work and back home to Manito to sleep. On the weekends, I would pick a day to ride my bike (and sometimes paddle my kayak) to the hospital instead of drive. I would tribute these rides to Graham who I was able to tell my adventures to when I reached his room.
Graham has been home with us since September 2021 and amazes us with his progress every day. He is healthy and happy and enjoying his own adventures in the outdoors these days.
But, I am planning one more grand multi-surface adventure ride honoring Graham and the other children of NICU for summer 2022.
I’d be thrilled to have you follow along at grahamfondo.com as I reflect on our NICU journey, plan the route, and train for the Graham Fondo.
We think back daily on the encouragement and support we received from prior NICU families and staff during our stay and would like to continue to pay it forward.
If you feel inclined to donate, after the ride, my wife Cheyenne and I will be purchasing items to donate to the SBU/NICU/NIC of OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria, IL to benefit the children and families who have a similar start to family life as we have. 100% of the donations will go towards these items.
Thank you for your support!
