Hello I'm Graeme, I'm the conservation manager for the Sherwood Forest Trust. last year when discussing how we could celebrate the trust turning 30 years old, I blurted out "Why don't we walk the Robin Hoods way?!"

So here we are! Having completed some challenge walks in the past (over 15years ago) I'm going to take on walking the full length 110 miles of the RHW this May and whilst trying not to break myself I will be raising funds for the Sherwood Forest Trust.

In the past when walking challenge walks, it was all I did. This time, with the joy of full time work and a busy home and family life, part of the challenge will be walking the miles around everything else.

I shall be accompanied for most of the walk with my big daft dog Matilda and have extended invites out to friends/family and co workers to come along as well.

Having lived and worked in Nottinghamshire for over 10 years there are still parts of the Sherwood forest region I don't know that well, so as well as walking, I'll be given the chance to see some of the less seen areas of region. The importance of this ties in with the work of the trust, as the only charity dedicated solely to the preservation and restoration to the Sherwood Forest regional character area, these less seen patches are what the trust has helped to protect for the last 30 years.

As a small charity, all of the money we have comes from gifts, grants and donations. Any money raised from this undertaking will go directly back into our work in preserving and restoring areas such as Oak Tree heath and Sherwood heath, these two remnants of heathland, which was once a major element in the make up of Sherwood Forest sadly since the 1920's we've lost an estimated 90% of this important habitat.
