Graduation for Carmen
Donation protected
Hey everyone!
As many of you know, Carmen will be graduating from UNT this May with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies, with a concentration in Africa and the Middle East, a focus on Peace Studies and a Minor in French. She is graduating from University of North Texas with a 3.8 and a full two years early, and the ability to speak with 30% of the world’s population. She has worked incredibly hard to get here, and her plans have not slowed down. Continuing on the work that she has done with the Center for the Healing of Racism, the InterFaith Counsel of Houston, and others, she is currently applying for a year of service at the Bahai Temple in Chicago.
Yes, I’m her mom, and I am very proud of her dedication, her hard-work, her intelligence and her drive, and I would like to invite you to help me celebrate her and her graduation by sending her on a college-sponsored educational trip to Morroco over her summer vacation. The total cost of the three week program, whose purpose is to understand challenges with migration and transnational identity, is $6,540. She has secured a scholarship for $2,250, and I would like to ask those close family and friends that have been a part of her journey to be a part of this celebration as well.
There are not many guarantees is life, but the one thing that no one can take from us is the experiences that we live and the way that those experiences shape us. What better way to celebrate this moment than by giving Carmen the opportunity to start her journey and continue her education through experience? Please consider sharing in our joy by contributing to this trip.
