I'm a veteran who proudly served a career in the U.S. Navy. During a training manuever in the Indian Ocean, I was injured. Since my honorable discharge from the service, I've experienced great difficulty transitioning into civilian life. I've worked extremely hard during the last 25 years to recover from my condition. Although it's been difficult, I've come a long way. I'm currently attending the Cal-State Long Beach MSW Program. I'm currently taking classes in social policy, human development  and group dynamics, and I'm in the middle of midterms. Thus far, I have earned A's on the coursework I've completed. Unfortunately, I don't have enough funding to finish my education. I have a research opportunity with my mentor, Dr. Rashida Crutchfield, next semester and I've applied for scholarships that, hopefully, will help in the future. I just need help to get through this semester. I'm hoping that those of who root for the underdog will support me.
