It all started ten years ago when a bright girl named "Gracie" told her mother (me) she wanted to become a doctor when she grew up. Little did I know she would stick with the occupation of wanting to be an OB/GYN and work towards fulfilling her dreams throughout high school and undergraduate school. Gracie is now approaching her third year of College at UC Irvine and is in the top 10% of her class. She is the Vice President of P.A.C.E which is part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Here, she goes around Orange County and organizes tutoring for underprivileged
children. She has been accepted to the University of Dublin to study Physics in mid-June of this year. This will allow her to pursue a double major in both Chemistry and Biology. Upon return to UCI, she will be ahead of her graduating class which will allow for her to double major. Coming back ahead of her class will also enable her the extra time to intern in the upcoming years, which will give her hands-on experience for her future in the medical field. For those of you who do not know Gracie, she is an exceptional student and has been receiving excellent grades ever since she was first put in school. She has faced many life changing events that a girl of her age should have never had to experience. Gracie has lost some of her closest friends in her short lifetime on three separate events. The experiences she has overcome have molded her into the strong, courageous lovely daughter, sister, and friend that she is. As her parent, I have often wondered how she came out of it all with such a loving spirit and such fortitude in life. I thought what kind of child tells her mother "if you want to punish me mom, tell me I cannot study." Gracie as a doctor will be the kind of person you want along your bedside holding your hand and fighting for you or your loved one. She is going to need the help of her family and friends to make this all happen next month, while she is studying abroad! We will miss her this summer and know that she is in good hands and has the means to finish what she has started. Please help Gracie make this next adventure of her life possible. Thank you to all her friends and family, it means a lot to us. Thank -you, Veronica (Gracie's Mom)
