Gracie's Safety Bed: Join Our Journey

Donation protected

Many of you know our sweet girl Gracie—but for those who don’t, let me share a little of her story.

I adopted Gracie at birth. Her biological mother was heavily using drugs during pregnancy, and shortly after Gracie was born, she developed bacterial meningitis—a result of the trauma her little body had already endured in the womb. That infection permanently affected her brain, and as a result, Gracie lives with Cerebral Palsy, she is blind with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), and global developmental delays. She is completely dependent on us for 100% of her care.

Rob and I are currently at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where Gracie has been undergoing test after test. And while we are here fighting for answers, we’ve also had a harsh realization: we are exhausted and depleted in every way—physically, emotionally, and financially.

During this stay, one thing has become crystal clear:
Gracie needs a medical-grade safety bed at home.

In the hospital, she is sleeping in a fully enclosed, secure bed—and for the first time in a long time, I’ve been able to breathe a little easier. At home, that’s not our reality. Gracie has completely outgrown the smaller version of this bed, and because of her condition, she’s at risk of serious injury if she rolls or falls out during the night. Right now, I sleep on the floor in her room every night just to keep her safe.

We are trying to purchase a SleepSafe full-size medical bed with the proper positioning, safety rails, and features Gracie needs—not just for now, but for the long-term. Sadly, insurance has denied it, despite her needs and diagnosis.

We’ve always done everything we can to meet her needs, no matter the cost.
We’ve paid over $13,000 out of pocket for her custom wheelchair just two months ago, we’ve purchased her walker, her feeding formulas, adaptive gear, and so much more. Any money that doesn’t go toward bills or basic living expenses goes straight into Gracie’s care. There has been sacrifice after sacrifice—but this time, we simply can’t do it alone.

So we’re asking—if you feel led to give, whether it’s $5 or $50, we would be so deeply grateful. Your gift will go directly toward giving Gracie the safety and peace she deserves—and allowing Rob and I to sleep without fear.

And if you can’t give, please pray for answers, for direction, and for rest. And please share this so others can come alongside us.

Thank you for standing with us through every chapter.
We love you.

With gratitude,
Melissa, Rob & Gracie
