Gracie's Leukemia Journey
Donation protected
I work with the youth at my church, and for the last 2 years, Gracie Thigpen was a part of my group. She is a 7th grader at Bleckley Middle School. Her mom, Dixie Thigpen, is a friend of mine. Two short weeks ago (March 17), they noticed some red spots on her legs. Within days several other symptoms appeared, and they go to see the doctor. The doctors tell her to go to the hospital in Macon, and on March 23 - just 6 days after seeing red spots that seemed somewhat harmless, she was given the diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Their world has been turned upside down. Dixie is no longer able to work, and Gracie is no longer able to go to school, where she was very active in basketball, tennis, and Beta Club. They will also have to drive back and forth to Macon (80 mile round trip) twice a week for a while. With gas being the way it is, that's a crazy expense in and of itself. Between the traveling and being out of work, I know they would appreciate any help they can get. From one parent to another, my heart wants to help as much as I can. Any money raised will go directly into Dixie's bank account. Thank you in advance for any contributions, positive thoughts and prayers ❤
