Hello, my name is Ella Turnbull and I have known Grace and considered her my best friend since we were 8th graders. Gracie moved out of the house when she turned 18 and began a life down in San Diego, working and going to school, completely independent just how she likes it. Back in early March Grace started to experience intense pain in her back and all throughout her body. After a long 2 week hospital stay and many different tests including; MRIS, Cat Scans, a spinal tap, a spinal surgery, etc. she discovered there was a tumor in her spine on April 5th. After all of the testing, the biopsy results showed that Grace has a grade 4 (most aggressive) tumor inside of her spine on April 19th. Since that diagnosis Grace has lost feeling in her lower body and is currently wheel chair bound and dependent on her family and loved ones to help her with essentially every part of her daily routine. It hasn’t been an easy change for her to say the least. Since her diagnosis she has completed 30 days of radiation therapy and she just completed her first week of chemo therapy. While she is going through chemo she plans to incorporate intensive physical therapy into her routine which is not covered by insurance but is necessary in order for her to regain feeling. The Knoechel family has been so strong during these times and they have kept strong in their faith. It was hard to convince them to accept the help. With that being said, anything helps.
