Grace’s 2nd liver transplant

Hi, my name is Karlee Peters, I am Grace’s daughter. After years of living with a liver disease, Grace received her first liver transplant by donation from her son Jordan in June of 2016. This blessed her with the past 7 years of enjoying life with family, watching her children get married, become a Grandma to 4 grand babies, and much more. As of February 2023, Grace has been placed back on the transplant list as her liver is failing again. Grace also completed radiation treatment for liver cancer this past summer. Thankfully, the added complication of being diagnosed with liver cancer did not exclude Grace from being on the transplant list, but it does provide extra urgency in receiving a new liver. As this will be her second liver transplant she does not qualify for a live donor, so Grace has to have her phone close by at all times as “the call” could come at any moment. She is told that she is high on the list and should have her bags packed and ready. This second transplant surgery, same as the first one, will take place at Toronto General Hospital, and will require her and a caregiver to be in Toronto for a minimum of 1 month, possibly longer. The unknown of travel dates and length of stay makes it difficult to know exact costs of everything. From her past experience with her first transplant, it is a costly time with paying for accommodations for her caregiver, flights, food, transportation, etc..

Grace will be travelling with her husband Randy with more family to follow for support. Above all, prayers are most appreciated.
