On March 25, 2022 the day our beautiful, strong, silly princess turned 2.5 years old we got the devastating news no parents should ever hear. After a month of unexplained pain and fractures, Gracelynn was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). As we try to comprehend what the road ahead holds, finances are a huge concern. She will have weekly treatments at the doctor’s office for 6-9 months; then the plan is every other week for another 1.5-2 years. My time off to care for her and take her to these appointments is completely unpaid. Dad only has a small number of hours paid left after using the time to be with her after a weeklong hospital admission. Not only are we worried about our everyday bills and cost of living, but also what it will cost us for Gracelynn to be receiving care at an out-of-network hospital.
