GRACE MUTONYI

Dear Friends and Community,

This is to announce the passing of our dear sister Grace Mutonyi. Grace passed away on the evening of November 27th, 2022. Grace had been battling cancer for the last few years. Grace had been in remission for almost two years, after which cancer devastatingly returned, taking her life.

Grace was a healthcare professional who spent her career working for Columbia Presbertayian, NYU, and Westchester Medical Hospitals. She was a devout Christian, a mother, and a loving and generous individual. She loved hosting friends and family at her home, being a youth mentor and caring deeply about the community she loved.

Grace was a daughter to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mauso of Namyoya in Mukono district, Uganda. She was the niece of the late Ambassador Elidad K Wapenyi, who was her guardian when she came to the US in her youth. She leaves two young children, ages 7 & 4, in Uganda. Her brothers and sisters in Uganda also survive grace.

We would ask the community to support the return of Grace Mutonyi to Uganda, where her children live. A gofundme has been created to do so. Your generous contributions towards the attempt to return her to Uganda shall be greatly appreciated.
