Grace Emilio Tribute UPDATED

Grace Emilio, a friend to many, and loved by all, lost her battle to COVID on March 1st 2021.
Grace was an amazing, kind-hearted, generous and successful woman. She lived up to her name; elegant and courteous, she was known to be the first to help someone in need. If you knew Grace, you will remember her with her big beautiful smile, which lit up every room she entered,  with her two babies, Matilda and Trixie, usually in tow. In true Grace character, she adopted them both and gave them the best life any dogs could ever have.

Reading and hearing the countless stories from her friends and family reaffirmed what I already knew; she was a woman so kind, caring and loving and with a heart that was so pure and rare, we were truly blessed to have had her in our lives.

She did so much good, always trying to help in anyway she could. One of her biggest joys in life was being a mom to her two furbabies, Matilda and Trixie, who she adopted from her friends at Paws in Chelsea and from The Little Shelter. Her love for her babies was immense- but it didn’t stop there; Grace always tried to help animals in need, donating to charities and always trying to find forever homes for other dogs as well.

With the loss of Grace comes a void, felt by everyone who knew her. In the wake of this tragedy I wanted to find a way to honor Grace’s memory. Her passion for animals was so great, I cant think of a better way than to rescue a dog in immediate danger, and give it the medical care it would alternatively not have been able to receive. Saving a dog would make Grace so happy; a beautiful legacy.

While there are so many animals in need, there is one who was scheduled to be euthanised. Her name is Mochi, she was a stray who was brought in to the BACC. She has been diagnosed with mammary tumors, needs dental work and to be spayed. We are working with Bobbi and the Strays, a non-profit organization that rescues and provides essential care for orphaned, stray, abused, and special needs cats and dogs, which Grace whole-heartedly supported, so that this beautiful baby, Mochi, can have a second chance at life.

Another thing Grace believed in was the rehabilitations of pitbulls. She believed all dogs deserve forever homes. Any funds left over will go to working with fearful and anxiety prone dogs in shelters so they can find a forever home. The adoption pit bulls at Paws became her personal projects. She drove with the owners on a 3.5
hour trip to Marysville, Pa, to do a home screening to ensure that beautiful King would have the wonderful home he deserved. And he did until May 3, 2020 when he passed away. She stayed in touch with the couple who adopted him and rejoiced with them in each milestone. Though Grace may no longer be physically here we want to follow her example and make an effort to believe in the good and help others. The best way you can honor Grace is to be kind, show love to all, and help wherever you can. We believe she is smiling on our project, helping to save another life from heaven where she surely watches over all her loved ones, 2 legged and 4 legged both!
