Help Grace buy the horse that saved her life!

I believe that every once in a while the stars align, the universe is your friend and good, yet unexpected, things can begin to happen. What begins as tragedy can soon birth hope and purpose for those that will look for it.

Grace has struggled with depression and anxiety since she was 10. 6 years is a long time in the life of a young person. 6 years of silent battles she fought within. 6 years of paralyzing anxiety. 6 years of such profound and deep sadness while attempting to smile so everyone thought she was “normal”. 6 years of loneliness that culminated in an attempt to take her life.

Thankfully she is still here with us. In the aftermath of this situation, we began to look for ways to help Grace cope and also live beyond herself by volunteering somewhere. At first, this was an attempt to fill her time with positive people in a positive setting but it quickly grew into something none of us expected. The experience became life changing and life saving for Grace.

She seemed to find a sense of her true self, a sense that she belonged to something, a sense of peace within. We began to see laughter again, motivation that we had not previously seen her exhibit and a determination that she didn’t know she was capable of.

She immersed herself in research about horses to learn everything she could about how to take care of a horse and soon it was apparent she began to see herself owning a horse in the future as did we.

Now she and Jazz seem inseparable and she wants to make Jazz a permanent part of our lives.
