Grace Baptist Church Aberdeen Munro Challenge
A couple of months ago, the opportunity arose for Grace Baptist Church to consider purchasing the most notable landmark in Woodside, Aberdeen: Woodside Parish Church. This building was constructed in 1848 and has been used as a place of worship by the Church of Scotland until the church closed early last year. We are delighted to announce that our bid to buy this building has been accepted.
This is undoubtedly another significant moment in our church’s short history. The importance of such a building for the sake of our church family, and its potential in relation to the Christian school, our local evangelism and other ministry work is daunting but very exciting. We are fundraising for the purchase of this building and the refurbishment work that will follow.
On Monday 6th May, a small group from Grace Baptist Church Aberdeen will take on the daunting circuit of the White Mounth Munros. The hike, which covers a distance of 29km and ascends a total of 1,228m, takes in five of the Munros spanning the White Mounth plateau. The group will begin at Glen Muick, ascending the monumental Lochnagar, via 'The Ladder' and subsequent boulder field before reaching the lofty summit. Following this, the route takes us out on to the harrowingly exposed White Mounth plateau where we will walk from summit to summit across a further four peaks. Finally we will descend to the shadows of Loch Muick, before returning to the starting point.
We would greatly appreciate your prayerful and financial support as we seek to take another monumental step forward in the work that we are doing in Aberdeen for the advance of God’s Kingdom in our nation.
