Current Funding Objective: Hospice Internship $345 USD ($465 CAD)
Greetings!
Hi there, my name is Leighton Ryder! I am a Canadian seminary student attending Graduate School at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, WI. In August 2022, my wife and I moved from Canada to the US for me to attend seminary.
Why are we asking for funding?
As the saying goes, “the only thing part time about pastoral ministry is the pay.” As a seminarian, all my time goes towards studying and serving the Church, which means funding comes solely from donations, sponsorships and scholarships.
In August 2022, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer. Thankfully, the cancer was caught early enough to be effectively treated and cured by December. Over the time I had cancer, I became aware of my calling into pastoral hospice care. It is a strong conviction of mine to serve those who are near departing so they know the love of Christ and the Church even though they cannot be with the Church in physical presence.
What will your funding go to?
All funding raised will go towards
- Seminary tuition
- Cancer treatment expenses
- University textbooks, software, & supplies
- Residential expenses (rent, utilities, & food)
-Travel expenses (ministry travel accommodations, gas, vehicle maintenance)
The benefit of your funding!
The benefit of your gift is that 100% of your support goes towards my and my wife's small missional journey in service to Christ and His Church. In choosing to fund us, you support vocational calling, pastoral ministry and higher education in the Church.
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support. With your funding, we will work towards serving Christ, His will, & His Church.
Be well & God bless ☩
Leighton

More about myself
In 2017 I accepted Christ as my Lord & Saviour. Unexpectedly in this new conversion to Christianity, I found a new desire to worship God with my mind through academia. This led me to decide I would aspire to become a Christian academic and work towards a PhD.
Last year, I found a new love for Christ’s bride, the Church. In this love for the Church, I began to discern a calling from God leading me towards pastoral ministry, specifically pastoral hospice care. At first, this was terrifying because it meant changing many plans I had established. But the more I leaned into prayer, the more comforted I became with accepting this vocation.
In January 2022, I was accepted into Nashotah House Theological Seminary and began in Fall 2022; in that same Fall semester, I became affiliated with the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy in the Anglican Church in North America where I am in the ordination process. God has been too good to me, and I look forward to the privilege of serving His people & Church.
