Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m fundraising for my brother Jeffrey.
On November 6 my brother went into the hospital for a Nissen Fundoplication, which is a surgical procedure to tighten the junction between the stomach and the esophagus. After time they realized it was to tight and nothing would pass down his throat. He had to stop working and put his plans to move to NY on hold where his new apartment and job was waiting for him so he could begin to heal, but still needed to continue pay for his apartment . 6 weeks passed and he was hit with complication after complication. 2 more procedures were done . In the mean time he’s lost over 40 pounds and weighs 116 pounds
On December 15th My brother was scheduled to receive a stent in his throat to hold the opening temporarily open for 6 weeks so he can gain weight and his strength back. Then he will have to return back to the hospital to have it removed. He will be reevaluated and if the scaring, swelling and muscles don’t loosen he will have another surgery at Tampa general by a thoracic surgeon who specializes in reconstruction of the esophagus.
It will take a few more weeks of rehabilitation and I was hoping to help him with the mounting medical bills and living expenses which are such an incredible hurdle to overcome while he is temporarily unemployed. I’m hoping to ease some of his many worries by starting this page. Just reading his story and saying a prayer is helpful.
