On Sunday February 9th 2025 a photo was trending on social media of a white dog (re-named “Chance”) outside a Wal-Mart in Maple Ridge, BC. As seen in the photo, it appeared that Chance was extremely malnourished. Attention was brought to the fact Chance was living in a van, and suffering great neglect that no animal should need to endure. The community quickly came together and were able to locate the person who had possession of Chance, but it came at a cost ($1500) to get them to surrender Chance to us.
Once we had Chance in our care, he was rushed to the Emergency Vet, where he had to stay overnight so they could run tests and monitor him. Chance received a complete blood panel, IV fluids for dehydration, treatment for worms and parasites, probiotics, a physical check over, special dietary food to help with his weight gain, a bath, and nail trim which costed $2,121.70. Chance will require further care including getting his shots up to date, getting neutered, and further medication as required. At this point it has costed a total of $3,621.70. Photos of all vet bills will be posted here for complete transparency.
Chance has now been discharged from the hospital and placed into a foster home, where he is already showing signs of rehabilitation. He is such a sweet boy who truly deserved a second chance.
We set up this fundraiser as many people have offered to donate to help with the costs of saving Chance. Any amount is greatly appreciated, from the bottom of our hearts (and paws)!!
