Hi everyone, I’m putting this fundraiser together for my mom. She had a house fire while she was at work and lost her 3 dogs and a bird. Unfortunately she didn’t have insurance to replace her home.
It’s not easy for me to put this together as I’m very stubborn and not very good at asking people for help. I’ve seen my mom go through so much trauma and not be able to catch a break.
She became widowed with 4 young boys in her early twenties when my father passed away from a motorcycle accident. Shortly after that she met a man and helped raised 9 kids in the 3 bedroom trailer below. No easy task with an income from social security survivors benefits. She always told me “we will figure it out” when I was afraid to ask for a toy from the dollar tree because I was always worried we wouldn’t have food on the table if I got a toy not knowing the price. That’s the kind of person she is knowing that the only way to go is forward.
After raising my step siblings with money from social security our stepfather was putting thousands of dollars away while my mother skipped bills for years to make sure we had food on the table and the roof over our heads. Her credit is ruined from being taken advantage of by the person she thought was going the spend the rest of her life with. After 19 years of being with our ex-stepdad, he left her for her niece and was high and dry with mountains of debt and limited income coming in.
I’ve known my mom to work countless hours while her health deteriorates to get back on her feet. She switched to the night shift at the local gas station to make a little extra for shift differential. When she’s not working during the day she usually has my niece Averi and sometimes spends the night when my sister is working.
She really hasn’t caught a break and is even now having a hard time taking help from people. She would rather help someone than be helped. After my father passed she donated thousands of dollars to help anyone that came to her and never asked for anything in return.
I wish I didn’t have to make this, but I too have to swallow my pride and realize that some thing’s are too big for even me to take on. If anyone could help by even donating a penny I would be eternally grateful for anything. I know everyone is struggling right now with this current economic situation, but if you could find a spare penny to help the only parent I have, my family would truly appreciate it.
Thank you, stay safe, and god bless!
