Support Andrew's Recovery Journey

Donation protected
On Monday, August 11 my brother Andrew was driving himself and his good friend Sam home from playing basketball when they were t-boned on the driver’s side at an intersection in Athens, GA. After the accident, he was rushed to Piedmont Athens Regional hospital, where he received surgery to attempt to repair damage to his abdomen. The following morning, he had a second surgery to begin repairing the three fractures in his pelvis that resulted from the collision, as well as a fractured tailbone. He is also suffering from additional abdominal complications that will require further surgery in 6-8 weeks once his pelvis is stable enough to endure another operation. Andrew is not able to walk for the duration of that time. We are so so proud of the strength (both physical and mental) Andrew has shown in these last few days. Even through this nightmare, he has been nothing but gracious and kind to everyone around him. Our family is asking for your support with the costs from his care, as well as future expense on his long road to recovery.

Andrew is the sweetest, most polite, dedicated, and hard-working person I know. He loves going to the gym and playing on his Xbox. He’s funny, he’s devoted, he loves his (big) family and his wonderful friends. He has had such an incredible impact on everyone in his life. He’s a Kinesiology major at the University of Georgia in Athens. Andrew transferred from Georgia Southern to UGA his junior year and was about to begin his senior year after working as an MA at Goodman Dermatology (while taking O-Chem, yeesh) over the summer. Because of the accident, he has had to withdraw from school for the fall semester. He was incredibly excited to get back to school and his friends, who have all been so amazingly supportive during this difficult time.

This next part is from Andrew’s girlfriend Aislin:
I never thought I would be writing a message to Andrew's friends and family in such a scary and uncertain time, but I am glad I get to share the impact he has had on me. Being Andrew's partner and friend over the past nine months has changed my life completely- his kindness, dedication, and loyalty inspire me every day to be a better person. I have always been amazed by how different parts of Andrew's character contrast in such beautiful ways: His solid dedication to fitness and academics complements his sensitivity to loved ones; his patience and depth complement his ridiculous sense of humor. But most of all, Andrew's resilience is the quality that has shone the most during the time since the crash.
The car accident that left Andrew and his close friend Sam in this condition was unexpected, and has left us all questioning how this could happen to such good people. I am confident in Andrew's recovery, and I know that all of the love and support he has received will give him the strength he needs to get back on his feet, Any donation you are willing to give is sincerely appreciated by all of us who have been praying for Andrew's recovery during this hard time. Thank you!

Andrew has a long road to recovery in front of him. He’ll need another surgery in 6-8 weeks to repair abdominal damage, and will have a lot of physical therapy to do. Andrew is so strong and will get through this with continued support from his family and friends.

Drive safe, drive alert, drive aware.
