December 18, 2018 is a day I will never forget. My brother, Tyler Nisbet, was admitted to the hospital with kidney failure. That day is a blur as I watched he and his wife, Liz, navigate the very scary news that Ty would need dialysis and an eventual kidney biopsy to determine the cause of his kidney failure. The prognosis wasn't clear, but we all knew it was serious. Later in the week, my family would find out that Tyler had an autoimmune disease, Iga Nephropathy, that had basically taken out his kidneys and he would need a kidney transplant. The news was devastating as Tyler had never had any problems with his kidneys.
To know my brother is to love him! He loves Liz and his two daughters, Carlie (13) and Raegen (6), fiercely. The strength he has shown since that day in 2018 has inspired so many. He has dialysis three times a week for approximately 5 hours each time. He fights to be present in the lives of his daughters and wife and can't wait to be healthy again so that he can get back to the life we all so desperately miss. His sense of humor shines through in many of the most difficult times. None of this is easy. In fact, it is truly one of most difficult things I have ever seen someone go through. While he is pushing forward, he is exhausted and navigating a world that changed in a moment.
Tyler has a long journey ahead of him with many unknowns especially with the cost of medical treatment and any other expenses that may emerge. While I may not be able to change the journey he has to embark upon, I can help raise money so that he and Liz don't have to worry about the financial burden this will put on their family. Ty and I have always been close. He has been my biggest protector and best friend my whole life. Any donation that you make will help make the next steps of his journey a little more manageable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
