I am Christine Mims , wife and mother to 3 little boys Christian 12, Jack 8, and Ryan 3. Within 24 hours my whole world turned upside down... we went to the doctor because Ryan was having unexplained bruising and pain when I would hug him. He had blood drawn and before 8 o'clock the next morning we were told that we needed to head to Cook Childrens Hospital in Fort Worth TX. When we got there the Oncologist was waiting, and he had a room ready for Ryan, at that moment I knew that my worse fears were a reality. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
We live in Decatur TX which is an hour away with no traffic, and we are required to be within 30 minutes from the hospital during his 3 year treatment plan. We are hoping to keep life as normal as possible for his brothers, which means traveling back and forth from Decatur to Fort Worth daily to enable them to stay in school and continue their extra curricular activities. The money raised here will be used for gas, food while at the hospital with him and unexplained expenses that might come up during this time. This happened all so fast that we didnt have time to prepare. We would use the funds immediately. It means so much to us as a family because we want to be there for every step of this journey with Ryan. We don't want him to have a moment alone and to always have comfort knowing we are there. There will never be enough words to show our appreciation to those that can help in anyway, most of all our family is comforted by prayer please pray for Ryans strength, comfort and healing.
