If you've met Lulu, you know that she is quite possibly the sweetest girl out there. She loves people, dogs, kids, cats, cuddling, bones and more. When I brought her home on January 15, 2015, I promised to give this girl the best life possible, and she's brought so much joy to me and everyone she meets.
Lulu was diagnosed with cancer on March 13th. She had a lump on her leg that was biopsied and removed, and it came back as a malignant Mast Cell Tumor. Mast Cell Tumors are not uncommon, but unfortunately they have what are often described as "tentacles" that make it difficult to remove the entire tumor.
On April 8th, she underwent additional surgery to remove the rest of the tumor. A second much smaller lump on her belly was also removed during this surgery. Yesterday, I got the call that doctors were unable to remove the entire tumor from her leg and that an additional surgery is needed to get better margins for the tumor on her belly. In addition, radiation is needed to kill off the remaining Mast Cells near her leg tumor.
The medical bills on all this are pretty astounding. The original consultation, surgery and additional biopsy added up to $3,500. The upcoming surgery cost is unknown, but I'm imagining it will be at least $1,500 to $2,000. The radiation alone will cost between $7,700 and $11.000.
I'm committed to giving Lulu the care that she needs to beat this cancer, but I also realize that I need to ask for help. If you're able to give anything to help Lulu fight cancer, I am truly appreciative. All the funds raised will go for her treatment.
My Lulu is such a happy and otherwise healthy girl, and having her live the longest life possible is my goal.
