Goya Primary School

Donation protected

During a work trip to Uganda, my colleague Erin Collett and I had a chance to visit Goya Primary School in the Koboko district of Uganda.

We had a chance to talk with the students and experienced a day in the life at this rural primary school. We saw the pride the children have for their school and their genuine passion for learning.
While visiting, we met Ahmed Bashir, a local farmer who attended Goya Primary School. Bashir told us how important Goya was to his community but that unfortunately, the school faces many challenges.

To help support the Goya, we asked Bashir to narrate a script we wrote that was inspired by our visit.

Most Ugandans in the Koboko district are subsistence farmers who often struggle to earn enough money to pay school fees. In order to keep the fees affordable, schools like Goya lack adequate infrastructure. For example, the property doesn't have running water which makes good sanitation a significant challenge.

Our goal is to use this video to raise money to improve Goya's bathrooms so that the hundreds of children who currently attend Goya will have a cleaner place to use the restroom during their school day. This will help prevent the spread of illness, which is the leading cause of missed school days. The cost of new bathrooms is about $5,000, which would last for many years to come. The school has many other needs, but this particular need will make a real tangible difference for all the current and future students of Goya. Thank you so much for your support. Every penny has an impact in changing the lives of these children.
