Back on August 20, my brother Alan was rear ended by a police officer who decided to continue a chase through an active construction zone 15 miles outside of his jurisdiction. Today, the town that employees said police officer and their insurance company determined that they are not liable for the damage to Alan's vehicle or for any of the medical bills resulting from the collision.
He works in construction and relies on his truck to make a living. For the last five weeks, he only has been to get back and forth to his office and pick up his kids based on the generosity of friends and family who have loaned him vehicles. He has not been able to actually do any physical work, that is his usual way of making a living.
Beyond that, his injuries from the accident have prevented him from coaching his daughter's softball team or participating in myriad activities with his son.
