Help Cindy Attend NYU!
Hi, my name is Cynthia and I am a head start teacher and a manager at a retail store. I hail from East Los Angeles in California and have always been passionate about helping others. I received my bachelor's degree in child development because I wanted to work with young children. During my undergraduate career I was an honor student and won first place at my university's student research day and even was selected to present my research at the state research competition.
After university I went to Japan to teach English to special needs students for two years. When I returned I began my post baccalaureate work in communication sciences and disorders so that I could start the process of becoming a speech language pathologist (SLP). I have worked very hard with the aim of attending a great graduate program that will provide the resources and information needed to be amazing in the field of speech language pathology.
I was accepted into NYU's graduate communicative sciences and disorders program, but unfortunately I am not being offered enough financial aid to cover the cost of attending school and living in the state of New York. I am reaching out to the GoFundMe community because I have heard of the generous, caring people who peruse this site. My hope is that some of you may be willing to help out this girl from the hood who is trying to make something of herself and achieve her goals. It would be a shame to not be able to get my master's because I come from a low socioeconomic background.
When I become a licensed speech pathologist, my goal is to work with children with cleft palettes and with stroke patients who need rehabilitation services in order to be able to communicate with their loved ones. If you can and would like to help I would greatly appreciate any donation to help me meet my goal. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I appreciate you :)
