Steve is home!  On August 3rd, he suffered a massive heart attack that few survive. After 2 weeks in the Critical Cardiac Unit at Stanford, and 5 weeks in the Acute Care Unit at Dominican, Steve was discharged to continue his recovery at home! Steve’s heart is strong; however, the brain injuries he suffered (one from the initial heart attack and the second an extremely rare delayed injury) and the multiple medical issues (blood clots, ulcers, swallowing difficulties) will require continued 24-hour care at home.  Lisa will continue to take unpaid leave. Our goal is to support her as Steve's primary caregiver as he heals and returns to a level of independence. Steve will be unable to work for an extended period of time. The doctors have indicated that his full time care will extend well into 2017.  We will also be facing a myriad of medical bills and unexpected expenses.
