Hi All! This campaign is to help me raise money for the remainder of my college classes. By remainder, I mean that I have applied for and utilized all of my undergraduate student loans, but I still have 8 classes left to take at my dream college, John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
When I applied for financial aid this year, I realized that I am very close to reaching the maximum aggregate allowance for undergraduate student loans, and if I do not come up with a creative way to raise/make money, I will have to drop out of college for over a year to save up the remainder of what I would need to pay for my last few classes.
All donations are to help pay for classes *only!* I work very hard to stay afloat, often working ~50 hours a week to pay all of my rent, bills, groceries, and school supplies, while also taking two classes a semester.
I would really like not to have to drop out. I am majoring in Criminology, and plan to work toward a career in research that will focus on developing new prisoner reentry programs. These programs will ideally focus on helping inmates readjust to society, while also reducing recidivism (the likelihood that the inmate will commit another crime).
I would really like to go on to a graduate school that focuses on research in this area, but this goal will be extremely delayed if I have to drop out.
Please know that your money is not being wasted! I currently have a 4.0 GPA, and I am an outstanding student who works very hard to keep her grades up. I am a member of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and the only National Criminal Justice Honor Society in the United States, Alpha Phi Sigma. Both honor societies recruited me for outstanding academic achievement.
I am really proud to say that I have made it as far as I have without asking for help outside of financial aid. I don't like asking for help, and even now I wish I didn't need it, but I am learning that sometimes in life, it is OK. I humbly ask for your contributions to please help me achieve my goals.
