Savannah’s Fight Against Leukemia

Lawrence and Jessica has taken their 15 month old daughter Savannah to the doctors for her regularly scheduled shots. Mom was concerned about some unexplained bruising on Savannah’s body so they were sent for blood work. Jessica received a phone call the following morning from the doctors telling them to get Savannah to the emergency room immediately as she may have leukemia and her body was not producing platelets.
Savannah was air lifted to London children’s hospital where they were told Savannah had leukemia. The Hematology Oncologist ordered chemotherapy to be administered during the procedure for a bone borrow aspiration test. After getting the results from the bone marrow aspiration for the leukemia sub type, they were told that Savannah did not have leukemia, rather bone marrow failure. This is after Savannah already received chemotherapy.
Her body is not producing any platelets and any bump or fall can be fatal causing internal bleeding or brain injury. Her red and white blood cells are abnormal putting her at high risk of infection and anemia. Savannah is currently transfusion depended and will remain so until a final diagnosis is determined and a treatment plan can be established.
At this point the doctors have no answers as to what is causing this. We are currently awaiting approval to send blood tests to Europe for their assistance using their genetic screening technology to find a cause. Savannah’s weekly transfusions are resulting in our family having to relocate cities for treatment.
Donations will help relieve the financial burden of things like the cost of transportation, nutrition, hospital residence, parking, help paying for rent and much much more.
