Gordo's battle against Stage IV Kidney Cancer

Hi, my name is Lorie Montaño and if you know me, you know my family. They are my world and I will do anything for them. My one and only bro Onofre Mark "Gordo" Quintero has been sick with a cough since September 2022. He persistently went back and forth to his doctor's office and a few emergency visits only to be treated for his cough and possible pneumonia. On January 15, 2023, a new Physician Assistant reviewed his chart and told him, "you poor thing, nothing is helping your cough and you can't sleep, let's send you for a CT scan." A week later the CT scan revealed a 12.8cm mass on his kidney. I read the CT report, the mass had taken over his right kidney, into his veins, behind his pancreas and nodules on his lungs, yet he was undiagnosed because he had to wait to see a specialist. From this uncertainty my bro began deteriorating in front of my eyes; jaundice, weak, tired and irritable. Seeing my big bro like this crushed me so on Jan. 25th, I drove him to the emergency at Mayo Clinic and within hours we received the diagnosis... Stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer), we were in shock! My bro, healthy otherwise and the life of the party has been taken over by this unbearable cough, kidney cancer, lymphodema and restless nights. His health remains unstable and western medicine is not helping as quickly as we need it to. We will be fundraising to help raise money for more healing, comfort, support and non-conventional treatments not covered by health insurance. I hope my brother's story will help raise awareness to others, always advocate for your health and seek second opinions when something doesn’t seem right.
