LETS GIVE GORDON A GREAT SEND OFF

Hi, I'm Dawn I’ve been lucky enough to be Gordon’s PA for the last 18 years. As many of you will know Gordon passed away on Boxing Day 26.12.2024.

This is his story......

In March 2024 following an annual routine blood test, Gordon found out that he had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Within 2 days he was admitted to UCLH in London and started on an aggressive form of chemotherapy. He was home briefly in April but then back for another round in
May. A search was started for a stem cell donor and a match was found. Unfortunately Gordon contracted Covid and the transplant was delayed. As soon as he tested negative, the cells were harvested and Gordon was admitted to start pre-conditioning chemotherapy at the end of August. On admission it was discovered that the leukaemia had returned and another round would be needed. This took place in September and Gordon returned home, on his 12th Wedding Anniversary, in October. He developed another infection and the transplant was delayed again. He finally got the go ahead in December and successfully received the stem cells. Due to not having any active cells of his own, he developed another infection and was admitted to Critical Care where he was placed in an induced coma. Gordon fought an incredible battle but there was too much to fight against and his heart was unable to continue.

Gordon loved being a Dad to his 3 children and was so incredibly proud of all that they have achieved. He was also so proud of Deb, his wife who kept the family home going whilst also being there with him.

He was blessed with visits from many family and friends and spoke highly of everyone who gave their time to visit, call and message him.

Gordon was a people person, he has been described by many as kind and always willing to help.

On the 22nd January there will be a service at Harwood Park Crematorium in Stevenage followed by a Celebration of Life at Chesfield Downs in Graveley.

Many of you have asked to help Deb and the family and as we would all like to be able to give Gordon the send off that he deserves, a contribution towards this would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,
Dawn
