Gordon Mellott GBS Treatment Fund

We have received the unfortunate news that our dear Friend, Husband, Father, Grandpa, Gordon Mellott has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS).  GBS is a rare neurological disorder in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks part of its peripheral nervous system. Treatment for this syndrome is available, but comes at a high price. Cost for the IV medication alone, is $10,000. This is not including the medical procedures, or medical equipment needed to administer the medication. GBS attacks the nervous system, as stated above. This is causing tingling and numbing throughout Gordon's arms, legs, and back - making it challenging (to say the least) to walk and do normal daily activities. Since becoming ill, Gordon has not been able to work. He is the only source of income for his family. Their household is suffering a huge financially difficult time between no income and thousands of dollars worth of medical expenses.  We, the friends and family are reaching out to loved ones, friends, and our community asking to help this generous man get through a difficult time. Gordon is not one to ask for help - which is why we started this fundraiser. Gordon is always the one to step up and help his family, neighbors, friends, even strangers.  He does it without hesitation and guaranteed with a smile.  He starts treatment July 3rd. Treatment is IV medications given for one week via the hospital. There are three different types/strains of medications that are available. Gordon will start with one type and hope it works for his body's immune system. If this medication doesn't take, they will move onto the next and so on. The longer this goes untreated the higher risk Gordon has for major body organ failure. Time is of the essence for Gordon and funds are depleting quicker than they are coming in. They are in serious need of financial help - any amount will help. We ask if you are able to donate, please do so.
