Gordner Strong - Family Medical Support

Kevin Gordner is loved by so many and will do anything for anyone. On September 30, 2021 he was in a terrible accident that resulted in him being taken to the hospital in critical condition with multiple injuries, broken bones, and ruptured organs. The doctors are unsure of his ability to walk, but Kevin is a very strong individual and will fight his hardest to be with his family.

On behalf of his wife, Sherry; two sons, two daughter-in-laws, and four grandchildren, I ask for your support to help with medical bills and increasing bills due to Kevin not being able to work. Please consider donating anything for this amazing family.

Is your husband Kevin Gordner?"

My husband, best friend, soul mate. Yes he's mine. I can't catch my breath as I try to make sense of his words.

"Your husband has been in an accident, he is being taken to GWV."

All he can tell me is the injuries are very serious. But Kevin was talking to him and gave him my number.

A glimmer of hope. He is still with me. We can deal with injuries.

4:29 am Now it's my turn to make that call, to our boys. Knowing that they will be terrified. He is their daddy, pappy to their littles, their hero.

Seconds pass like hours as we wait in the little room in the ER for word on his condition. Finally, they begin to explain the long list of injuries that seem unimaginable.

Prioritizing the most urgent things first, urgent surgery to stabilize his spinal fractures and cord injury, cleaning out the open fractures of both legs, reinflating the lung, treating the hemorrhagic shock, stabilizing him.

These are the things I can focus on. The treatments, vital signs, medications, lab results, scans, talking to all the doctors for updates. These are the things I can do, it's what I understand.

What I don't understand is why bad things happen to good people. Kevin is such a great guy, he loves his family and friends, works hard, would do anything for anyone at any time, and has an infectious laugh. He doesn't deserve this. He should not be lying here on a ventilator fighting for his life.

The good news is that he is fighting. Today is better than yesterday. He made it through an entire day of surgery despite being "The highest risk possible." He is so strong.

We know the road ahead is long and that it will be very difficult. We also know he will come back to us. We believe. Please believe with us.

10/3/21 UPDATE:

Kevin has lost a lot of blood and going into surgery to repair his femur fracture to hopefully control his hemoglobin. His liver counts are very high and the doctors are saying he may have pneumonia. He is squeezing hands, wiggling toes, and knows his family is close. Please pray for his surgery and quick recovery.
