On April 1st (April Fools Day), Milo played the worst prank on me: we found out he has terminal kidney cancer. And we weren't even looking for it.

We adopted Milo in 2023 as a 9 year old senior citizen from a not so nice household. He's not that nice either, but he's nice to us sometimes. He’s weird, stubborn, and incredibly funny in his own way; so funny he hid a mystery liver illness (what we were actually looking for), anemia, and soft lumps on his tummy fluff. They told us the soft lumps were not cancer (yay!) and then Milo said 'surprise, I got more lumps inside of me'. And those were cancer (not yay!). Because of his age, treatment isn’t an option. The kindest thing we can do now is give him the happiest, most comfortable time possible in the months he has left—estimated at 8–16 months.

WHAT'S THE MONEY FOR?

We’ve already spent a significant amount on vet visits, diagnostics, bloodwork, and imaging while trying to figure out what was wrong. Now that we understand his condition, Milo will need ongoing medication to keep his liver functioning and to keep him comfortable.
