Aya is a talented pastry chef, and beloved past team member of Blackbird Baking Co, and most recently Evelyn’s Wholegrain Bakery where she has made incredible baked goods with heart that feed our community.
In April Aya received a lung cancer diagnosis, stage 4 metastatic lung adenocarcinoma. She began treatment immediately, and has stepped away from work to focus on her health.
Despite these challenges, Aya remains positive. In a recent post where she shared the news of her diagnosis, Aya honoured us by saying "Here are my favourite bakeries. I promise their treats cure you and make you smile."
All of us fellow bakers want to encourage our community to help support Aya to rest and enjoy the good things in life.
