Good Karma Floral Farms and Venue
Hello!
I am DeAnna Bray, and I am working towards creating Good Karma Floral Farms and Venue. Good Karma Farms will be an organic, regenerative floral farm with practices that are in harmony with nature. Our focus will be on biomimicry as we will employ no till, cover cropping, KNF, and regenerative methods that support and encourage soil microbial health, and natural biodiversity.
Our farm will facilitate positive environmental impacts in many ways. Most of the fresh flowers found in the US today are being grown in Costa Rica and flown here at great cost to the environment. Local flowers can fill the demand and reduce the global floral carbon footprint. Good Karma's farming practices will sequester carbon into the soil, support pollinator health, and strive to offset the negative impacts of till based, chemical farming. I have been inspired by Apricot Lanes Farm and their documentary, "The Biggest Little Farm". If you haven't seen it, please check it out, you will be inspired and amazed. You may find yourself falling in love with a misfit little chicken named Greasy and rooting for a pig named Emma.
Now on to the venue! Our post and beam barn style venue will be on the farm property and offer many amenities. A few of these include, seating for up to 200 guests, an elegant bridal suite, outdoor ceremony area, prep kitchen, reception patio and fire pit. Eventually we will add onsite cabins.
Our farm and venue will support and strengthen community connections. Once established we will annually donate 1% of profits to our local women's shelter and keep them supplied weekly with beautiful bouquets. I also plan to donate 1% of our profits to the "Lyme Light Foundation" to support those with Lyme Disease and to futher fund research.
As we grow and expand we will be able to provide well paying jobs that build life skills, to those in our community.
Good Karma Floral Farms and Venue is a beautiful dream and I am doing all that I can to make this dream into a reality. After many years of battling Lyme disease, I am finally well enough to pursue this dream. I am so very grateful for my healing and all of the support I have received.
I currently work in healthcare as a travel ultrasound tech and am saving all that I can to put towards Good Karma.
I am participating in business development courses through the Small Business Association and Columbus State Community College. I am also working with the directors of the Athens and Meigs County, Economic Opportunity Zones in order to select the best area for Good Karma Farms and Venue. These Economic Opportunity Zones are areas designated by the federal government in order to encourage business development by offering investors tax incentives.
I am currently acquiring so much valuable information about growing flowers and marketing through Floret Farm's online workshop by Erin Benzakein. I read anything and everything related to soil health and regenerative farming and cant wait to incorporate these practices. I absolutely love chickens and honey bees and know that these fabulous creatures will have their places on Good Karma Farms.
Any donation would be GREATLY appreciated! We understand the transformative powers of gratitude and will joyfully accept any amount with happy hearts. Being able to start this business with low overhead is key to it's success and any little bit will help. The goal for the next 9 months is focused upon acquiring land in Athens or Meigs County in Ohio. Your donation will be used to purchase land. Good Karma Farms and Venue is more than a business, it is an instrument for positive climate change, a testament to the knowledge of nature, a vessel for healing, a place of connection and celebration. Through parties thrown and flowers grown, we will strive to cultivate harmony, joy and love. All will be welcome at Good Karma Farms.
