Series Synopsis:
Mark returns to his hometown after failing to make it big in LA. Determined to rebuild his life, Mark fumbles through the relationships he left behind. Despite his best intentions, Mark’s well-meaning attempts to make amends lead to hilarious missteps.
Genre and Format:
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Drama
Format: Television Series
Aimed at a diverse audience, the series will appeal to millennials and Gen Z, particularly viewers who enjoy shows like Atlanta, Insecure, and The Vince Staples Show. It’s for those who appreciate relatable humor, flawed but lovable characters, and stories about finding yourself amidst life's messes.
Tone & Style:
A grounded, heartfelt dramedy infused with situational humor, "Good Intentions" captures the comedic chaos of returning home and facing unresolved relationships. The series strikes a balance between laugh-out-loud moments and touching emotional arcs, blending Insecure's sharp humor with the sincerity of Master of None. The visually dynamic Harlem backdrop brings an authentic cultural texture to the show, while the barbershop serves as a recurring set piece—a communal space where Mark’s highs and lows unfold.
Episode 1 - Where’s the Love?
Mark’s grand return begins at a local Harlem barbershop, where he’s met with fanfare, but things quickly go sideways. What starts as a simple haircut turns into an altercation when an old acquaintance, Jamaal, accuses Mark of turning his back on his roots. The situation escalates into a hilarious, chaotic confrontation, with Mark fleeing the barbershop without his shoes and dignity. This sets the tone for the series, showing how Mark’s good intentions are constantly thwarted by unexpected, often absurd, consequences.
Episode 2 - Crazy in Love
Mark finds himself in a bizarre interrogation led by his new love interest, Jada, after she suspects him of cheating. Her accusations spiral into a hilarious scene involving screenshots, a Pizza Hut order, and a mistaken call. The situation escalates into a comical misunderstanding that leaves Mark tied to a chair, soaking wet, while trying to convince Jada that he's not guilty. The mix of absurd humor and relational dynamics continues to paint Mark as a well-meaning but perpetually unlucky guy.
Episode 3 - Still in Love
Mark attends a New Year's Eve rooftop party, where he reconnects with Monica, a high school flame. As sparks fly and they share a tender, intimate moment, Mark envisions a romantic future with her. However, he snaps back to reality and second-guesses himself, leaving the moment bittersweet. This episode explores how Mark's past haunts his present, underscoring the theme of missed opportunities and rekindled emotions.
Why Now?
"Good Intentions" taps into the current demand for character-driven comedies that mix humor with heart. With more stories centered around millennial struggles and urban life, this series adds a fresh, unique perspective, spotlighting NYC culture and the comedic potential of returning home.

Previous Project:
Mark's previous project "Born Sinner" had its first premiere at the prestigious American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. Since then, it has been recognized as a Finalist at the New York International Film Awards (NYFA), nominated at the Black Film Fest ATL (BFF-ATL), and took home an award at Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles. A special congratulations to Zuhairah McGill, who won Best Supporting Actress. She shined brilliantly alongside Mark and the rest of the talented cast.
However, in the new endeavor, Mark plans to target network studios. Following the blueprint of hit shows like "Insecure", "Bel Air", and "The Vince Staples Show", this mini-series "Good Intentions" will be published on YouTube. The goal is for the first three episodes to be used as a proof of concept for potential networks (HBO, Netflix, Hulu). Potentially, capturing the imagination of network executives and catapulting "Good Intentions" into a Television Network deal.
