Hurricane Melissa Relief!!

Our family roots are firmly planted in Samuel Prospect, Trelawny, Jamaica. Many of us are scattered all over the globe, but to us, this place will always be home.

Recently, our island home was devastated by the strongest hurricane to hit the island, a strong category 5 with top winds of 195 miles per hour.

Good Hope Baptist Church has been a cornerstone of the District of Samuel Prospect for over 120 years, serving as a refuge for multiple generations and a testament to resilience. The structure has weathered numerous storms, including Hurricane Charlie in 1951, Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, and others. However, the impact of Hurricane Melissa in 2025 has been catastrophic to our church and the entire community.

Although there are many charities offering aid to our country, unfortunately, some areas, including our district, have been overlooked, leaving residents without access to basic necessities like clean drinking water, food, and shelter.

We are a rural small district and not a priority, But many of our people are suffering. They are living in structures with no roofs, exposed to the elements, or their homes are totally gone. The conditions are dire and the road to recovery is long and difficult.

The money raised will facilitate our initial response by providing basic survival needs, such as food, water and other goods and services, followed by efforts to restore infrastructure of both the church and the community.

With your help, we will rebuild. We will take care of our families and neighbors!!

Samuel Prospect has always been a place of hope and resilience. Good Hope Baptist Church has provided sanctuary and hope for many over a century and will continue to do so.

We humbly ask that you help us provide healing and aid to our community… Help us rise again!

Thanks in advance for any contribution.
