WHY IS THIS MONEY NEEDED ?

All funds raised here will help me purchase the specialised waterproof filming gear I am going to need to film in difficult circumstances on a yacht sailing from Malaysia to Japan

WHO AM I?

My name is Wayne Tindall. I lost the love of my life Anne to cancer only 6 months ago and am going through an extraordinary process of grief and grieving. As Anne and I were a filmmaking team, I feel compelled to make a revealing and powerful documentary to help others around the world come through this process a little less battled scarred.

WHAT IS THIS FILM IS ABOUT?

I have been given an opportunity to make a film that will resonate with countless people from all backgrounds, ages and world views.

This documentary follows the journey of a Tasmanian artist and filmmaker (myself), bereaved only six months ago after a 52-year marriage to Anne the love of my life.

Following up on an unexpected invitation to join a fellow Widower Frank who I have not yet met, I will sail through the Indonesian Archipelago to Cambodia, Vietnam and Japan, joining Frank’s small crew in the hope that the isolation and unknown dangers of the high seas will provide a suitable canvas to transform an image of pain, unbearable grief and loss into one of a celebration of a life lived well with my one and only love.

I will talk openly to Frank who has also lost his wife to cancer two years ago, now sailing around the world, trying to find connections, and meaning. I will recount my roller coaster life with Anne, her indomitable spirit and how the recent loss of our oldest son preceded and underscored Annes recent cancer diagnosis. The stories of our lives together are funny, awe inspiring and often unbelievable.

Along the way, I plan to talk with people from all social classes, and from many countries who open their hearts and share similar stories. To learn about loss and the fragile human spirit from the perspectives of diverse cultures and disparate world views, all underscored by the hilarity, sorrow, trials and successes Anne and I have shared during our long life together.

I am working closely with a dear friend and film Producer Meika Behrendorff as well as my youngest Sam who also films and will assist at certain locations, himself grappling with the recent shocking loss of his mother and his brother only 2 years earlier.

Filled with spectacular scenery and unexpected events woven together with deeply meaningful and intimate moments, this film will touch the hearts of many, widows, widowers, sons, daughters, and friends.

Good grief is a simple yet profoundly personal story that will lift the veil on the silence and isolation that those who are left behind daily grapple with.

This is a story about the unknown.

What will happen when I crew on a yacht for the first time?

Will Frank bare his soul to me?

Who will we meet along the way?

Will the dangers and challenges of the unknown take their toll on me still reeling from such a recent and profound loss?

Sometimes sad, often funny and on occasions filled with gallows humour, this film will touch the hearts of many and help some turn a corner from life threatening grief and utter despair to ‘good grief’.

Your help will greatly assist me to make this film suitable for professional global film festival release.
