My name is Nia, and I’m asking for help during one of the hardest moments of my life. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Ava Patrice McGhee, who gained her wings on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 67. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in our hotel room—something no one deserves, especially a woman who gave so much love to everyone around her.
Our mom was a funny, God-fearing, and deeply loving woman. She had a way of bringing peace and laughter into any room. She was my best friend, my safe place, my confidant—my everything. Her strength carried our family through so much, and more than anything, she loved her grandchildren. They were her pride, her joy, and her reason to smile every single day.
She was also a true fighter. She had been battling health issues since we were kids, starting with an aneurysm and continuing through many challenges over the years. No matter what she faced, she endured it with quiet strength and faith in God.
Over the past few years, our family has faced many hardships, including the loss of stable housing. We were forced to leave our home unexpectedly. Because of everything we’ve gone through, we fell behind on life insurance payments, and now we are left without the support we thought we would have during a time like this.
Now, we are faced with the painful reality of trying to give our mother the proper homegoing she deserves while navigating both emotional and financial hardship. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help us honor her life and lay her to rest with dignity and love.
