On Thursday Oct 30th I received the devastating news that my beloved sister, Johanna, suddenly passed away. Her cause of death is still unknown.
She was a beautiful, kind, caring, loving and compassionate woman. Although, she didn't have anything to leave behind, she had a big heart. She was always willing to help anyone she could. She is truly missed, every single day! She is my only sibling. That day, a big piece of me died along with her, but an even bigger piece of her, remains here, with me, and that's her precious son Johnnie.
I'm ashamed to say that my sister Johanna still remains at the Medical Examiners Morgue. I'm unable to claim her because I can't afford it. I don't have the money.
This campaign is urgent. It's my only hope to raise funds to give my beautiful sister, Johanna, a memorial service and the proper burial she deserves. If this fails, I'll have failed my sister and her son Johnnie.

We've had our share of tragedies. By the age of 4 years old, my nephew Johnnie, has had more losses in his life than most people have in their lifetime. When he was only 2 years old, his grandpa, my dad, passed away. A year later, his dad passed away 3 days after his twenty-seventh birthday. Six months later, both of Johnnies grandparents, on his dads side, died in a car accident. And now, sadly, his mom.
Johnnie was left in my care after these tragedies when he was 3 years old. He just turned 12 in September. He's a sweet, smart, kindhearted, gentle soul. He's my life.
My name is Monika Hofmann. I've never been married nor do I have children of my own. I've had 3 major spine surgeries and dozens of spine procedures. The last surgery left me with permanent nerve damage. I was deemed disabled and much to my dismay, I was unable to continue working. I was later diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease. My only source of income is Social Security Disability, which I receive monthly. I don't have credit to use and I've depleted all my savings and retirement funds, raising Johnnie on my own. It's been an enormous struggle living paycheck to paycheck.
Your donations will be used for a memorial service and a proper burial for my sister Johanna. It will provide for her final resting place. The funds will be used for Johnnies daily expenses such as food, clothes education etc. With your help and generosity, I humbly hope and pray to give Johnnie the chance for a happy, healthy and joyful childhood that he deserves.
