Last week on Halloween Misha was attacked by a pit bull while she was in her yard going to the bathroom. The pitbull viciously bit Misha two times and shook her before releasing her. The owner pulled the pitbull away and left on foot. The owner has never come forward to check on Misha's conditon nor help the family with the vet bill. Misha was rushed to her local vet who recommended taking her to the 24 hour vet hospital in Swansea. After a few hours the hospital called to say that the injuries were so extensive that she needed to be transported to the Ocean State Hospital for critical care. Misha has been at the hospital since 10/31 and her chest cavity was punctured, her rib was fractured and the muscles in her front leg are so torn that she cannot bare weight on the leg. Her wounds were so deep that they needed to be stapled. At this time she may still lose her front leg, only time will tell.
Misha's family loves her very much. The vet bills have amounted to $8000 and will climb even higher as she rehabs. Misha's mom Alexandra has done what she can but she is a single mom raising two kids.
At this time New Bedford Animal Control is investigating to look for the owner of the pit bull.
Anything you can donate would be amazing to help this family and little Misha recover from this horrible ordeal.
