Senior dog rescue needs your help!
Donation protected
Over the last 18 years, while running our horse farm in Los Angeles, my husband and I have saved over 40 dogs.
Some, like Corky shown below, were left starving to death under our dumpster.
some thrown out of moving vehicles; others we saved from local shelters.
When we rescue dogs from the shelters, we take the old, sad, sick, never-going-to-get-adopted dogs and give them a last great life. In some cases, they only have a couple of months; in other cases we have had 12 year old dogs last two to three years.
Charcoal, pictured above is a 12 year old owner surrender. She is still running around and happy at 13. Camper, on our cover photo, was a 15 year old owner surrender given up because he could not get up on his own. Left at the shelter, he would have been euthanized. After we had an accupuncturist treat him he was able to wander all around the farm! We gave him an extra three happy months which he would not have had at the shelter.
Our 5 year plan is to run a facility for senior dogs where we can save them, find fosters, or keep them on our farm. We currently have one large dog run. Our first step is to fence in a 1/2 acre portion of our yard and build a second large dog run which we hope to complete in February. The fenced in area and dog runs allow us save more dogs, and gives them shelter and a place to play. There are many older dogs that have been abused or mis-treated, and as such can be aggressive or fearful. Providing them a save place to call their own, allows us the space to rehabilitate them and give them joy instead of fear and anger.
The cost for the fencing is $2300. Over the years, we have spent thousands of dollars treating and feeding these deserving dogs.
We need your help. Please consider donating to this project so we can continue to rescue these unwanted dogs and allow them to enjoy a happy life in their senior years.
We have met our goal to raise the money to build the fence, and it is built! We saved a dog the day after it was installed. Any future donations will help us feed and care for these dogs. Please know that we truly appreciate your help; someday we hope to be a non-profit so your help, helps you too! for now, thank you for your generosity.
